Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, candidates must fulfill both examination and academic requirements as specified below.

National-Level Examination Requirement :
Applicants must hold a valid score or fellowship certificate issued on or before 31-05-2026 from any one of the following national-level examinations ;
UGC-CSIR-NET (only JRF qualification is considered; Lectureship alone is not valid).
JEST examination.
GATE examination in Physics.

Educational Qualification :
Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications in Physics discipline:
M.Sc. in Physics with at least 55% aggregate marks
OR
5-year Integrated M.Sc. or B.S.–M.S. (Physics)
Minimum 55% aggregate marks
OR
4-year / 8-semester B.S. (Physics) with research component in the final year
Minimum 75% aggregate marks.
Candidates awaiting final results may apply, provided they have secured the required minimum percentage up to the latest completed semester/year.

Nationality Requirement :
Only candidates who are citizens of India are eligible to apply.

Age Criteria :
Applicants must be below 28 years of age as on 31-05-2026.
Permissible Age Relaxation ;
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) : +3 years.
SC / ST : +5 years.
PwBD : +10 years (additional relaxation).

Selection Methodology :
The selection process involves multiple stages designed to evaluate academic and research potential ;
Initial screening of submitted applications.
Shortlisting based on ;
Performance in national-level examinations.
Academic merit.
Offline personal interview at VECC.
Final selection based on interview performance.
Allocation of research topic after completion of pre-Ph.D. coursework.

Key Instructions :
This fellowship is intended for Ph.D. research training only and not for permanent employment.
No guarantee of absorption into regular service.

Selected candidates must report for joining on 03-08-2026.
Monthly fellowship: ₹37,000 – ₹42,000 + HRA/hostel support as per norms.
Any form of canvassing will result in disqualification.
