Educational Qualification :
Candidates must hold the following minimum qualifications for the respective posts ;
Assistant Geologist : M.Sc. in Geology / Applied Geology / Hydrogeology (as per post code requirement).
Assistant Engineer (Agricultural Engineering) : Degree in Agricultural Engineering or equivalent engineering disciplines as specified.
Agriculture Officer (Extension) : Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture with Tamil proficiency.
Librarian / Assistant Librarian : Bachelor’s Degree with B.Lib / Library Science qualification.
Archaeological Officer / Assistant Archaeological Officer : Postgraduate degree in Archaeology/History-related fields with prescribed PG diploma and Tamil knowledge.
IT / System Manager Posts : B.E./B.Tech in CSE/IT/ECE/EEE or MCA/PG in Computer Science or IT.
Drug Inspector : Degree in Pharmacy/Pharmaceutical Sciences/Medicine with specialization as prescribed.
Statistical / Research Posts : PG or UG degree in Statistics/Economics/Mathematics or related disciplines.
Engineering Posts (Civil/Electrical/Mechanical) : B.E./B.Tech in relevant engineering branches or equivalent qualification.
Junior Architect : Degree in Architecture with Council registration.
Translator : Law degree with Tamil proficiency and eligibility for Bar Council enrollment.
Chemist / Environmental Scientist : Degree or PG in relevant science subjects as specified.
Tourism / Accounts / Other Posts : Degree with additional professional qualifications where required (CA/ICWA, diploma, etc.).
Candidates must also possess basic computer knowledge wherever applicable.
Tamil Language Requirement :
Candidates must have adequate proficiency in Tamil on the date of notification. This requirement is considered fulfilled if Tamil has been studied at SSLC/HSC/Degree level, or the candidate studied in Tamil medium, or has passed the TNPSC Second Class Language Test.
For candidates who do not meet this condition at the time of appointment, passing the prescribed Tamil Language Test within two years is mandatory, failing which service will be terminated.
Age Limit :
The minimum age for all posts is 21 years as on 01.07.2026. The upper age limit varies depending on post and category.
General Category: 32 to 42 years (based on post).
Reserved Categories (SC/ST/MBC/BC): relaxation up to 37 years or more depending on post.
PwBD: +10 years relaxation.
Ex-servicemen: relaxation based on service period.
Certain posts may have higher or no upper age limit subject to conditions.
Age will be calculated strictly based on SSLC/HSC certificate records.
Application Fee :
Candidates must pay the fee online via Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI.
Examination Fee: ₹100 per subject paper (additional ₹100 for each extra paper)
One-Time Registration Fee: ₹150 (valid for 5 years for new applicants)
Fee exemption applies only for eligible reserved categories as per rules
Fees are non-refundable except where specifically allowed. Incorrect claim of exemption may result in rejection and disqualification.
Selection Process :
Selection will be conducted in three stages ;
Stage 1 : Written Examination ;
Paper I: Tamil Eligibility Test, General Studies, Aptitude & Mental Ability.
Paper II: Subject-specific technical paper based on qualification.
Minimum qualifying marks in Tamil Eligibility Test are required for evaluation of remaining sections.
Stage 2 : Onscreen Certificate Verification ;
Shortlisting will be done based on written examination marks and reservation rules in prescribed ratios.
Stage 3 ; Physical Certificate Verification / Counselling ;
Final document verification and counselling (where applicable) will be conducted before final selection.
Important Instructions :
Applications must be submitted online only through the official TNPSC portal.
One Time Registration (OTR) and Aadhaar linking are mandatory.
Candidates must ensure eligibility before applying; incomplete eligibility will lead to rejection at any stage.
Admit cards will be available only on the official website.
Use of mobile phones and electronic devices in examination halls is strictly prohibited.
Selection is strictly merit-based.
No request for revaluation, rechecking, or change of details will be accepted after submission.
