Railway Recruitment Cell, Western Railway (RRC/WR), Ministry of Railways, Government of India, has announced the Western Railway Sports Quota Recruitment 2026-27 for eligible sportspersons.
The recruitment is being conducted through an open advertisement under the Sports Quota for the year 2026-27.
A total of 64 vacancies have been announced across different Pay Levels and sports disciplines.
The recruitment provides an opportunity for eligible sportspersons to obtain employment in Western Railway through the sports quota selection process.

Candidates applying for Level 5/4 posts must possess a Graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
Candidates applying for Level 3/2 posts must have passed 12th standard or equivalent from a recognized board.
For Level 3/2 posts, candidates with Matriculation plus Act Apprenticeship may also be eligible.
Matriculation plus ITI approved by NCVT or SCVT is also accepted for the applicable Level 3/2 positions.
Candidates applying for Level 1 posts must have passed 10th standard from a recognized board.
ITI or an equivalent qualification may also satisfy the educational requirement for Level 1, subject to the notification conditions.
National Apprenticeship Certificate issued by NCVT may also be accepted for Level 1.

Sports achievement is a crucial eligibility condition for Western Railway Sports Quota Recruitment 2026.
Candidates must have acquired the required sports eligibility between 01 April 2024 and the date of notification.
Candidates must be currently active sportspersons.
Sports certificates must relate to recognized championships or competitions conducted under recognized sports federations.
The relevant sports achievements must also be recognized by the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB).
Certificates issued by organizations not recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports at the relevant time may not be accepted.
A candidate will be considered only for the event, position or game for which the candidate possesses the recognized sports norm.

Candidates may qualify by representing the country in Senior Olympic Games.

Hockey candidates may qualify through the prescribed Champions Trophy achievement.
Badminton candidates may qualify through the specified Thomas Cup or Uber Cup achievements.

Level 3/2 Sports Norms :
Candidates may qualify through representation at specified World Cup, World Championship, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympics and other recognized international competitions.
At least third position in specified Commonwealth Championships, Asian Championships, Asia Cup, South Asian Federation Games, USIC World Railways Championship or World University Games may be considered.
At least third position in Senior, Youth or Junior National Championships may satisfy the applicable norm.
At least third position in National Games conducted under the Indian Olympic Association may also be considered.
At least third position in All India Inter University Championships may qualify.
First position in Federation Cup Championships at Senior level may also be considered.

Level 1 Sports Norms :
Representation in specified Commonwealth Championship, Asian Championship, South Asian Federation Games, USIC Championship or World University Games may qualify.
At least third position in Federation Cup Championships at Senior level may be considered.
Representation of a State or equivalent unit, with at least eighth position in Senior National Championships, may qualify subject to the applicable conditions.
Marathon and Cross Country events are subject to separate conditions mentioned in the notification.

Discipline-Specific Sports Conditions :
Athletics has specific provisions concerning National Inter State Senior Athletics Championship and other recognized competitions.
Ball Badminton achievements must satisfy the prescribed federation and date-related requirements.
Body Building achievements from certain events conducted after the specified cut-off may not be considered.
Boxing has specific provisions concerning Youth category achievements in international championships.
Cricket candidates must satisfy the prescribed requirements relating to All India Inter State, Inter-Zonal or Challenger Trophy competitions.

The application fee for most candidates is Rs. 500.
Out of the Rs. 500 fee, Rs. 400 will be refunded to eligible candidates who actually appear in the Sports Trial, after applicable bank charges.
The application fee for SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, Persons with Disability, Women, Minorities and Economically Backward Class candidates is Rs. 250.
The Rs. 250 fee is fully refundable to eligible candidates who appear in the Sports Trial, subject to applicable bank charges.
Fee payment must be completed online through the integrated payment gateway.
Payment can be made through debit card, credit card, internet banking, UPI and other available online methods.

Eligible candidates will be called for the Selection Trial.
The Sports Trial assesses game skill, physical fitness and the observations of the coach.
Candidates must secure at least 25 marks out of 40 marks in the Sports Trial to be declared FIT.
Candidates declared NOT FIT will not be assessed further by the Recruitment Committee.
Recognized sports achievements carry 50 marks.
Game skill, physical fitness and coach's observation during the trial carry 40 marks.
Educational qualification carries 10 marks.
The total possible score is 100 marks.
For Level 5/4, the minimum qualifying score is 70 marks.
For Level 3/2, the minimum qualifying score is 65 marks.
For Level 1, the minimum qualifying score is 60 marks.
Appointment will be made strictly according to merit and fulfillment of all eligibility conditions.

Candidates must submit a separate application and pay a separate fee for each discipline and Pay Level applied for.

Candidates should ensure that their name, father's name and date of birth are consistent across educational and sports certificates.
