RRB Recruitment 2026

Eligibility:
The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) invite applications from candidates who fulfill the required educational qualifications, technical eligibility, age criteria, and medical fitness standards mentioned in Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) 02/2026.

Technician Grade I Signal :
Applicants applying for Technician Grade I Signal must possess any one of the following qualifications from a recognized university or institution ;
B.Sc. degree in Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Instrumentation.
Engineering Degree or Diploma in the relevant branch or discipline.

Technician Grade III :
Candidates interested in Technician Grade III posts should have ;
Passed Matriculation / 10th Standard.
Along with an ITI certificate approved by NCVT/SCVT in the related trade
OR
Completed Act Apprenticeship training in the concerned trade.
Additional Requirements ;
Apart from educational qualifications, candidates must b
Meet the prescribed medical fitness standards.
Fulfill citizenship requirements as per Railway norms.
Fall within the specified age limit mentioned in the official notification.

Age Criteria :
The minimum age requirement for both categories is 18 years. The upper age limit differs according to the post.
Technician Grade I Signal: 18 to 36 years.
Technician Grade III: 18 to 33 years.
Candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS, Ex-Servicemen, and PwBD will receive age relaxation benefits according to Government of India rules.

Selection Procedure :
The recruitment process for RRB Technician posts is conducted in multiple stages to evaluate candidates fairly and transparently.
Stage 1 : Computer Based Test (CBT) ;
Candidates must first appear for an online objective examination.
Stage 2 : Document Verification ;
Shortlisted candidates will be called for verification of educational certificates, identity proof, category documents, and other required records.
Stage 3 : Medical Examination ;
Final selection is subject to passing the prescribed railway medical fitness test.
There is no Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) for Technician vacancies.

Exam Pattern :
The examination will be conducted in online mode through a Computer Based Test.
Total Questions: 100 objective-type questions.
Maximum Marks: 100.
Duration of Exam: 90 minutes.
Negative Marking: One-third mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
Unattempted questions will not attract negative marking

Salary and Pay Scale :
Selected candidates will receive salary according to the 7th Central Pay Commission pay structure.
Technician Grade I Signal ;
Pay Level: Level 5.
Initial Basic Pay: Rs. 29,200/- per month.
Technician Grade III ;
Pay Level: Level 2.
Initial Basic Pay: Rs. 19,900/- per month.
In addition to the basic salary, employees will also be eligible for allowances such as ;
Dearness Allowance (DA).
House Rent Allowance (HRA).
Transport Allowance (TA).
Other railway benefits and admissible perks.
