Eligibility Criteria :
Candidates applying for the Dental Surgeon post must hold a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) or an equivalent qualification from a dental college or medical institution recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI). Applicants must also possess a valid registration certificate under the Dentist Act, 1948. Those who have obtained their degree from foreign universities must submit the required conversion certificate approved by the DCI.
In addition, candidates should provide a Housemanship/Internship Completion Certificate. Applicants with foreign dental degrees must also submit the screening test pass certificate issued by the National Board of Examinations.
Candidates must have adequate knowledge of the Odia language. This requirement can be fulfilled if the applicant has studied Odia as a language subject in school, passed Matriculation with Odia as a subject or medium, passed the Class VII examination with Odia, or qualified in the Odia language test conducted by the School and Mass Education Department. Candidates who have not previously passed the required Odia examination must clear it within four years of joining service, failing which they will not be eligible for increments or promotion to the Group-A (Senior Branch).
Age Limit (As on 01 January 2026) :
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and not more than 42 years of age. Candidates should have been born between 02 January 1984 and 01 January 2005. Age relaxation is applicable as per government rules. Candidates belonging to SEBC, SC, ST, Women, and Ex-Servicemen categories are eligible for 5 years of relaxation, while PwBD candidates are eligible for 10 years, and PwBD candidates belonging to SEBC/SC/ST categories can avail 15 years of cumulative relaxation. Only one age relaxation benefit will be granted if a candidate falls under multiple categories.
Salary :
Selected candidates will be appointed under Level-12 of the Odisha Revised Scales of Pay (ORSP) Rules, 2017. The pay scale includes basic salary along with Dearness Allowance (DA) and other admissible government allowances as applicable from time to time.
Application Fee :
Candidates belonging to UR, SEBC, OBC, and other categories are required to pay an examination fee of ₹700. This fee will be refunded only to candidates who appear for both papers of the written examination. Candidates from SC, ST, and PwBD categories are exempted from paying the application fee.
