Eligibility Criteria :
Eligibility requirements vary according to the faculty position applied for.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in the relevant subject area along with the prescribed academic qualifications and post-Ph.D. research experience.
A minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade at the Master's level is mandatory for all posts.
Teaching experience is desirable for all positions; however, it is not a mandatory requirement.
Assistant Professor :
This post is intended for young researchers and academicians with expertise in Basic Sciences.
Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics.
Applicants must have secured at least 60% marks or equivalent grade at the Master's level.
A minimum of 2 years of post-Ph.D. research experience is required.
Reader :
This position is suitable for experienced researchers with a strong academic and publication record.
Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics.
Applicants must have obtained at least 60% marks or equivalent grade at the Master's level.
A minimum of 5 years of post-Ph.D. research experience is required.
Associate Professor :
This is a senior faculty position for candidates with significant research and academic achievements.
Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
Applicants must have secured at least 60% marks or equivalent grade at the Master's level.
A minimum of 10 years of post-Ph.D. research experience is mandatory.
Age Limit :
The age limit will be calculated as on 15 July 2026.
Candidates must satisfy the prescribed maximum age criteria for the respective post.
Post-wise maximum age limits are given below:
Assistant Professor: Maximum 35 years.
Reader: Maximum 38 years.
Associate Professor: Maximum 43 years.
Salary / Pay Scale :
Selected candidates will be appointed under the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Academic Pay Matrix.
In addition to the basic pay, faculty members will be entitled to ;
Dearness Allowance (DA).
House Rent Allowance (HRA).
Transport Allowance (TA).
Children's Education Allowance (CEA).
Pension benefits.
Leave Travel Concession (LTC).
Faculty members will also be covered under the Contributory Health Service Scheme (CHSS) as per DAE norms.
Pay Scale :
Assistant Professor ;
Academic Pay Level: Level-12.
Entry Pay: ₹78,800 – ₹2,09,200.
Reader ;
Academic Pay Level: Level-13.
Entry Pay: ₹1,23,100 – ₹2,15,900.
Associate Professor ;
Academic Pay Level: Level-13A.
Entry Pay: ₹1,31,100 – ₹2,16,600.
Selection Process :
The selection process is merit-based and focuses on academic achievements, research quality, and overall suitability for the post.
Merely fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee shortlisting.
The recruitment process consists of the following stages ;
Step 1: Application Screening ;
Applications will be scrutinized by a Screening Committee.
Candidates will be evaluated based on ;
Peer-reviewed publications.
Research proposal.
Relevant experience.
Recommendation letters.
Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for the next stage.
Step 2: Job Talk (Round 1) ;
Shortlisted candidates will be required to deliver an in-person Job Talk before the Selection Committee.
The presentation will assess ;
Research achievements.
Subject expertise.
Future research plans.
Teaching aptitude.
Candidates residing outside India may be allowed to participate through video conferencing.
Step 3: Final Interview (Round 2) ;
Candidates shortlisted after the Job Talk will appear for the final interview.
The interview will be conducted by the Final Selection Committee.
Final merit lists will be prepared separately for each post code.
Travel Reimbursement ;
Candidates attending the final interview in India will be reimbursed ;
Maximum 2-tier AC train fare or equivalent,
By the shortest route between their place of residence and Mumbai.
Daily allowance and local travel expenses will not be reimbursed.
Appointment :
Selected candidates will initially be appointed for 5 years, including a 1-year probation period.
After successful review, they may continue in service until the age of 62 years.
The retirement age may be extended up to 65 years as per Governing Council decisions.
