The Income Tax Department, West Bengal and Sikkim Region has released the official notification for Income Tax Kolkata Sports Quota Recruitment 2026. The Income Tax Department has announced 82 Sports Quota vacancies for meritorious sportspersons.

The posts carry the following pay levels :
Tax Assistant: Pay Level-4, with a pay range of ₹25,500 to ₹81,100 under the 7th Central Pay Commission.

Income Tax Kolkata Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria :
Candidates applying for Income Tax Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 must fulfil the prescribed nationality, age, educational and sports eligibility conditions.
The candidate must be a citizen of India.
The educational qualification must have been obtained on or before 1 July 2026.
The required sporting achievement must satisfy the conditions specified in the official notification.
Candidates must meet all eligibility conditions unless a specific relaxation is applicable under the prescribed rules.
Participation and sporting achievements considered for this recruitment must fall within the prescribed period from 1 January 2022 to 30 June 2026.

Tax Assistant Educational Qualification :
For the Tax Assistant post, the following qualification requirements apply :
The candidate must possess a Degree from a recognized University or an equivalent qualification.

Age Relaxation :

Income Tax Kolkata Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 Order of Preference :
The Department has prescribed an order of preference for evaluating sporting achievements.
First preference is given to candidates who represented the country in International Competitions with the required clearance from the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Second preference is given to candidates who represented a State or Union Territory in Senior or Junior National Championships or National Games and achieved a medal or position up to third place. Senior National medal winners are preferred over Junior National participants when applicable.
Third preference is given to candidates who represented a University in recognized Inter-University competitions or Khelo India University Games and secured a medal or position up to third place in the final.
Fourth preference is given to candidates who represented a State or Union Territory in Khelo India Youth Games for eligible participants, Khelo India Winter Games or Khelo India Para Games and secured a medal or position up to third place.
Fifth preference is given to candidates who represented State School teams in recognized National Sports or Games for Schools and secured a medal or position up to third place.
Sixth preference applies to candidates who represented the specified State, Union Territory, University or State School teams at the relevant levels but did not secure a medal or prescribed position.
Only sporting achievements between 1 January 2022 and 30 June 2026 will be considered.

Sports Achievement Certificate Requirements :
Certificates must be issued by the competent authority prescribed for the relevant sporting event.
International Competitions: Certificate from the Secretary of the National Federation of the concerned sport, in the prescribed Form 1.
National Competitions: Certificate from the Secretary of the National Federation or Secretary of the State Association concerned, in Form 2.
Inter-University Tournaments: Certificate from the Dean of Sports or the officer responsible for sports at the concerned University, in Form 3.
National Sports or Games for Schools: Certificate from the competent Director or designated senior sports authority in the State Education Department, in Form 4.
Khelo India University, Youth, Winter and Para Games: Certificate from the designated Sports Authority of India official, in Form 5.
Candidates should ensure that sports achievement certificates are issued in the correct format by the authorized body.

Income Tax Kolkata Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 Doping and Disciplinary Eligibility :
Candidates must have a clear record in doping tests conducted by WADA, NADA or other relevant authorities.
Applicants must not have been disqualified or banned by a sports federation for disciplinary reasons.
Any ongoing doping, unfair-means or related investigation must be disclosed as required in the prescribed declaration.
Providing false information or suppressing relevant sporting disciplinary details may lead to cancellation of candidature or appointment.

Income Tax Kolkata Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 Selection Process :
The selection procedure consists of several stages designed to verify sporting achievements, eligibility and practical sporting proficiency.
Applications received by the Department will first be scrutinized.
The scrutiny will cover nationality, age, educational qualifications, sports achievements and supporting documents.
The best sports performance achieved between 1 January 2022 and 30 June 2026 will be considered according to the prescribed criteria.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for Document Verification.
Candidates must produce original documents along with the required copies at the time of verification.
Candidates employed in another organization may be required to submit a No Objection Certificate from their present employer.
Eligible candidates will subsequently undergo a Ground or Field Proficiency Test in the relevant sport.

Tie-Breaking Criteria :
In the event of candidates securing the same level of merit, the Department will apply the prescribed tie-breaking rules.
Higher sporting achievement during the period from 1 January 2022 to 30 June 2026 will receive preference.
If the tie continues, a higher cumulative number of medals during the specified period will be considered.
Individual and team sports will be evaluated according to the applicable recruitment criteria.
