Educational Qualification & Skill Test Norms :

Tax Assistant :
Must possess a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or equivalent qualification.
Must have a data entry speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour (KDPH).

Stenographer Grade-II :
Must have passed 12th Class or equivalent from a recognized Board/University.
Must qualify the stenography skill test ;
Dictation: 10 minutes at 80 words per minute (WPM).
Transcription time ;
English: 50 minutes.
Hindi: 65 minutes.
The transcription will be done on a computer.

Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) :
Must have passed Matriculation (10th Class) or equivalent from a recognized board.
No skill test is required.

Age Limit and Age Relaxation (As on 01-08-2026) :
Tax Assistant: 18 to 27 years.
Stenographer Grade-II: 18 to 27 years.
Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): 18 to 25 years.
Sportspersons are eligible for up to 5 years of age relaxation in the upper age limit.
SC/ST sportspersons can avail up to 10 years of age relaxation.
The relaxation is applicable only if candidates meet all other eligibility conditions.
Candidates must submit the prescribed sports certificate format as per the relevant DoPT guidelines.

Who Can Apply :
The recruitment is exclusively for meritorious sportspersons.
Candidates must have a genuine and verifiable sports achievement record.
Educational qualification alone does not make a candidate eligible.
Candidates should satisfy any one of the following:
Represented a State or India in a National or International competition.
Won a medal in Junior National Championships.
Won medals in ;
Khelo India Youth Games (above 18 years).
Khelo India Winter Games.
Khelo India Para Games.
Khelo India University Games.
School Games Federation of India (SGFI) competitions.
Represented a University in Inter-University tournaments.
Represented a State School Team in National School Games.
The sport/event must be included in the list of eligible disciplines.

Order of Preference for Selection :
First Preference ;
Candidates who represented India in International competitions with clearance from the Department of Sports.
Second Preference ;
Candidates who represented a State/UT in Senior or Junior National Championships or National Games and secured a medal or position up to 3rd place.
Third Preference ;
Candidates who represented a University in Inter-University competitions or Khelo India University Games and secured a medal or position up to 3rd place.
Fourth Preference ;
Candidates who represented a State/UT in ;
Khelo India Youth Games (above 18 years).
Khelo India Winter Games.
Khelo India Para Games.
Must have secured a medal or position up to 3rd place.
Fifth Preference ;
Candidates who represented State Schools in SGFI National School Games and secured a medal or position up to 3rd place.
Sixth Preference ;
Candidates who participated in categories 2 to 5 but did not win any medal or position.
In case of a tie:
Candidates with higher achievements or more medals will be preferred.
Individual and team events will be treated equally.

Documents Required With the Application :
Candidates must submit self-attested copies of the following ;
Matriculation/SSC certificate (proof of age).
Educational qualification certificates.
Caste certificate (if applicable).
Sports certificate in Form 1/2/3/4/5.
PwBD certificate and UDID card (if applicable).
No Objection Certificate (NOC) from present employer (if applicable).
Aadhaar Card.
Two recent passport-size photographs.

How to Apply (Offline by Post) :
Download the application form from Annexure-II of the official notification.
Fill the form in block letters using a blue or black ballpoint pen.
Indicate post preference using ;
1 – First Preference.
2 – Second Preference.
3 – Third Preference.
X – Not applying for the post.
Attach self-attested copies of all required documents.
Place the completed application in a sealed envelope.
Superscribe the envelope with ;

Selection Process :
Tax Assistant & Stenographer Grade-II ;
Selection is conducted in two phases.
Phase 1 ;
Candidates are shortlisted based on ;
Application details.
Sports achievements.
Shortlisting Ratio ;
Tax Assistant: 28 candidates (4 times the vacancies).
Stenographer Grade-II: 10 candidates.
Phase 2 ;
Shortlisted candidates appear for the skill test.
The skill test is conducted at the Pr. CCIT Office, Bhubaneswar.
Candidates have to bear their own travel and related expenses.
Final merit is prepared based on performance in both phases.
Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) ;
Selection is based solely on sports achievement merit.
No skill test or second phase is conducted.
Waiting List ;
Tax Assistant: 10 candidates.
Stenographer Grade-II: 5 candidates.
MTS: 10 candidates.
Pay, Probation & Service Commitment.
Selected candidates will receive pay and allowances as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).
Additional benefits available to Central Government employees will also be applicable.
Posting will be within the Odisha Region of the Income Tax Department.
Candidates will remain on probation for 2 years.
Participation in departmental sports tournaments will be considered during probation assessment.
Selected candidates must represent the Income Tax Department, Odisha in sports tournaments for at least 5 years.

Doping and Conduct Declaration :
Candidates must have cleared all doping tests conducted by ;
WADA.
NADA.
Any other relevant authority.
Candidates should not have been ;
Disqualified by any sports federation.
Banned due to disciplinary action.
Any ongoing doping investigation must be disclosed.
Candidates must submit a self-declaration regarding ;
Pending criminal cases.
Disciplinary proceedings.
Disqualification or bans from sports events.

Common Mistakes to Avoid :
Do not submit more than one application.
Do not leave the post preference section blank.
Do not forget to attach the required sports certificate.
Do not send the application through ordinary post or courier.
Do not wait until the last day to dispatch the application.
Ensure the application reaches the office before the deadline.
Do not claim sports achievements obtained after 31-03-2026, as they will not be considered.
