Educational Qualification :
Applicants must satisfy any one of the following eligibility routes in the relevant trade:
ITI Based Qualification :
SSC / 10th pass with Science subjects (minimum 55% marks).
ITI certificate or National/State Trade Certificate in the relevant trade.
OR
Apprenticeship Training :
SSC / 10th pass with Science subjects (minimum 55% marks).
Completion of 2 years full-time apprenticeship training in the relevant trade from a recognized institution.
OR
Work Experience :
SSC / 10th pass with Science subjects (minimum 55% marks).
Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in Government / PSU / Autonomous bodies under Central or State Government.
Only post-qualification experience will be considered.
Part-time, casual, or guest experience will not be accepted.
Trade-wise Eligibility :
T2-01 : Electronics ; Electronics Mechanic.
T2-02 : Electrical ; Electrician.
T2-03 : COPA ; Computer Operator & Programming Assistant.
T2-04 : Multimedia ; Animation & Special Effects.
T2-05 : Photography ; Digital Photographer.
T2-06 : Motor Vehicle ; Motor Mechanic Vehicle.
Age Limit :
For the CSIR National Physical Laboratory Technician (1) Recruitment 2026, the prescribed age limits are ;
Minimum Age: 18 years.
Maximum Age: 28 years (as on 30.06.2026).
Age Relaxation Policy ;
Age relaxation is applicable as per Government norms ;
SC / ST : 5 years (only for reserved posts).
OBC (NCL) : 3 years (only for reserved posts).
PwBD (UR) : 10 years.
PwBD (SC/ST) : 15 years.
PwBD (OBC) : 13 years.
Ex-Servicemen : 3 years (after deducting service period).
CSIR / Government Employees Up to 5 years (minimum 3 years continuous service required).
Application Fee :
General / OBC / EWS : ₹500 (Demand Draft).
SC / ST : Exempted.
PwBD : Exempted.
Women Candidates : Exempted.
CSIR Employees : Exempted.
Transgender : Exempted.
Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of “Director, National Physical Laboratory”, payable at New Delhi.
Candidate name and post code must be written on the reverse side of the DD.
Examination Structure :
The exam will be conducted in OMR or Computer-Based MCQ format in English and Hindi (except English section).
Candidates must clear Paper I cut-off to have Paper II & III evaluated.
Merit Preparation :
Final merit will be prepared based on ;
Combined marks of Paper II + Paper III.
Tie-Breaking Criteria (Order of Priority) ;
Higher marks in Trade/Technical paper.
Lower negative marks in Trade paper.
Lower total negative marks across papers.
Older candidate preferred.
Earlier qualification completion.
Alphabetical order of candidate name.
Selection Methodology :
The selection process will be conducted in three structured stages ;
Stage 1 : Application Screening ;
All applications will be evaluated by a Screening Committee, which will shortlist candidates based on eligibility and trade requirements for the next stage.
Stage 2 : Trade Test ;
Shortlisted applicants will undergo a practical Trade Test relevant to their discipline.
Only candidates who qualify this stage will proceed further.
Stage 3 : Written Examination ;
Final selection will be based on a three-paper objective written examination.
