The Senior Resident post is a tenure position under the Government of India Residency Scheme.
Initial appointment is for one year.
The tenure can be extended up to a maximum of three years.
Extension is subject to satisfactory performance and approval of the competent authority.
Previous Senior Residency completed in any Government medical institution will be deducted from the maximum three-year tenure.
Candidates who have already completed three years of Senior Residency under the applicable scheme are not eligible for another full three-year tenure.
The appointment may be terminated by either side with one month's notice or one month's salary in lieu, subject to the prescribed conditions.
The appointment may also be terminated if the candidate fails to complete the initial three months satisfactorily.
